Shameless Commerce: It's a DWP! Giveaway!

Posted by Brandon |

I am happy to announce the very first real Down With Pants! contest/giveaway. I've got the "Ultimate Super Bowl Party Pack" from our good friends at Pepsi to give away - Pepsi, the choice of a new generation of pantsless pop drinkers. If you win, you get all this...

That's a football, a snack helmet, a beverage pail, two hats, two t-shirts, two keychains, five Pepsi 24 pack coupons and five Frito-Lay coupons.

And all you have to do is just leave me a comment telling me who your favorite NFL football player of all-time is. You have to name an NFL football player to be eligible. I'll pick the names out of a hat on Wednesday, January 21st so you can get your prize pack before the big game.

UPDATE - And make sure that there is some way in your comment to contact you. Either it goes to your blog with a email address posted there or you are on my Twitter or whatever. But a link to a profile that is private won't work especially if I don't totally know who you are.

I really liked Joe Namath!!

Stan Gelbaugh, the quaterback for the London monarchs in the early nineties.

He was probably the best player in the world league - although that really doesn't say that much I imagine.

anyhow, he's my favorite. However I don't really want to win and make you send an expensive parcel over here so I shall now withdraw from the contest.

Actually i want to revise my entry. My favorite American football player is actually Bubba Smith, who played Hightower in the police academy movies.

And i'd like to point out that although Stan Gelbaugh played in the world league, he also played for the seahawks so is eligible.

But that's irrelevant because a) i'm not entering anyway and b) my choice is now Bubba

Dan - I remember Stan Gelbaugh. Were the Monarchs part of the WLAF or NFL Europe? And I'll keep you in the drawing because I'm not sending it myself and there was no only USA folks stipulation.

I am going to say Donovan McNabb since his is the first name that came to my mind after seeing an article about his lame behavior on the Yahoo home page today.

Gosh, Joe Montana or Jerry Rice...

I'll go with Joe. I saw him in Vegas one time after he retired. He was drinking cans of Coors Light at a $5 black jack table at Barbary Coast.

I'm sure Coors was paying him to do so.

Mike Singletary. He was a Bear! And those eyes, and pants dropping ability!

My favorite NFL player from back in the day was Wilbert Montgomery who played with the Eagles back in the late 70's/early 80's. I think he went on to play with Detroit for one final year in '85 or so.

I love the guys that come from the tiny schools and WM went to Abilene Christain (an NAIA school). He is pretty much the reason that I am still an Eagles fan today. Even though I've lived in Jets/Giants territory all my life.

Go Birds!

My favorite player is that one guy from that one team. The one with the colors on the shirt. Yeah, that one.

Can't say it of all time as there is actually a list (montana, Easley, the Boz (why I don't know, because everyone did? and the old coach from notra dame with the awesome lisp- what's his name? doesn't matter) but right now, it has to be Ben Obomanu.
Mainly because I love him- I saw his first game with the hawks and this awesome catch and I though.. obe-one-kenobi RULES. I want to see him play EVERY GAME. Alas- I was not able to..
So- yes he's new (compared to others) and no, he doesn't get much play time. But I've given him a cool nickname, he's a nice guy, and he's my fav pic for last year and this year.

Bernie Kosar. Go Browns

Ah, I just remembered mine: Barry Sanders.

Jerry Rice

Just one? You're killing me. That's like asking me not to drown only one of my kittens.

Ok, I pick George Young of the Browns, who hold the record of being the player who has the earliest game injury. He twisted his knee turning away after a coin toss and had to be carted off the field.

Ejly said...

Ok, mea culpa. I can't believe I dissed George Young so terrible. My memory was in fact at fault: it was actually Turk Edwards. http://www.profootballhof.com/hof/member.jsp?player_id=62

Bob Sanders. Because Chuck Norris wears Bob Sanders pajamas.

Although I'm a diehard Bears fan and my fave Bear of all time is "Samurai" Mike Singletary, I'd have to say one of my alternate faves is "Mean" Joe Greene. I grew up in a family of Pittsburgh born and bred folks who all love the Steelers and Pirates. And I also remember and love that Coke commercial with Greene from back in the day.

My favorite is from years ago: Webster Slaughter, wide receiver, Cleveland Browns. He was magic on the field and every game, I wore my Slaughter jersey proudly.

I would have to pick Warrick Dunn from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. I choose him for all of the wonderful work he does helping families buying a house, furnishing it,furthering their education and a secure job for a brighter future. He does this with his own money and kuddos to him!
